Imam Reza Holy Shrine
Imam Reza Holy Shrine, the 8th Imam of Shias and the top Muslims religious. this holy shrine has over millions every year.
The complex is one of the tourist centers in Iran.The shrine itself covers an area of 267,079m2 while the seven courtyards which surround it cover an area of 331,578m2 – totaling 598,657 m2
the tourists come from all around the world but Arabic nations, Pakistan and India has much more.
Imam Reza Holy Shrine is the reason of Mashhad name. Mashhad it means the place that some one was killed. cause the Imam Reza Holy Shrine, Mashhad change to the 2nd great city in Iran.
There happened some essential changes around the complex in 1347/1928 when Falakah (round open space with the radius of 180 meters from the top of the Dome was established. Then they began to build the Museum, the library and the Hall of ceremonies. Old Falakah was extended up to a radius of 620 meters before the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution, an important part of Holy Buildings’ historical structure was demolished without considering its antiquity and elegance.
